Your Trusted Real Estate Advisor
Alicia Romero has been a dedicated real estate professional in southwest Colorado since 2002. Originally from a multigenerational Coloradoan family, she moved to Durango in 1996 after attending the University of Washington. Having lived in seven different states—including three of the Four Corners states—Alicia has always considered Durango home.
Her diverse background includes work as a raft guide, pastry chef, and director of a nonprofit educational program with The Durango Herald. In her 21 years in real estate, she has earned several prestigious professional designations—one held by only 4% of NAR Members nationwide. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Education Award (2004) and the Community Service Award (2017, 2022). She is an active member of the Durango Area Association of REALTORS® and has served as Chairperson for its Public Relations Committee.
Alicia is passionate about serving as a trusted real estate advisor, guiding her clients through the complexities and nuances of real estate transactions. Whether working with first-time homebuyers, seasoned investors, or families relocating to Durango, she takes pride in making the process as smooth and informed as possible. She especially enjoys helping newcomers settle into their new community, offering insight and support in all aspects of their relocation.
Beyond real estate, Alicia is deeply involved in her community. She has served on the Board of Directors for Bear Smart Durango, the Southwest Colorado Chapter of The Red Cross (where she also acted as Board Chair and participated in hurricane relief efforts), and volunteered as an EMT/Firefighter with the Animas Fire Department. Passionate about affordable housing, she spent eight years on the HomesFund Board and continues to teach Home Buyer Education Classes. As an advocate for youth programs, she is also a board member of the San Juan Symphony and a founding member of the Durango High School PTO.
In her free time, Alicia enjoys exploring the San Juan Mountains with her son, Rei Rasmussen, hiking, fly fishing, camping, paddleboarding, skiing, etc. She also loves cooking, reading, traveling, and practicing yoga—though not all at once!
